Good Morning,
At Cahokia Unit School District, we are proud to have an incredible team of dedicated educators and staff who go above and beyond daily. We asked some of our employees to share their Cahokia story—why they chose Cahokia, what a typical day looks like, their favorite memories, and advice for new hires. Stay tuned as we highlight their inspiring journeys! #CahokiaProud #WeAreCahokia #CahokiaStories #EducationMatters

Registration is now open for Kerengende Foundation’s Kreate Space Summer Arts Camp—a two-week program designed for rising 7th–10th graders to explore creativity, build confidence, and develop leadership skills.
From June 2–13, 2025, campers will meet at our downtown Belleville location (1 S. Church Street) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Through art, poetry, storytelling, and group activities, campers will learn about communication, boundaries, self-expression, and using their voices in meaningful ways. The camp also includes field trips and visits from local guest speakers.
The cost is $200 per participant, and financial assistance is available.
Here’s how you can support:
Register a camper
Share this opportunity with families and networks
Sponsor a camper to help make this experience accessible to all
Thank you for helping us create space for youth to grow, lead, and express themselves.

Hey CUSD #187!!!!
It's Spring Break time!!!! See you on April 22nd!!
Enjoy and be safe!!!!

Our district is participating in the Cities in Harmony event again this year. The inaugural event was great last year. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, April 26, 2025, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. We are excited to collaborate with even more districts from the Metro East area to plan and sponsor this event! Cities in Harmony is a free family event and it is centered around inclusivity and harmony for all in the Metro East and surrounding communities. All children are welcome to attend, but they must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be held at the Illinois Justice and Workforce development Campus (formerly Lindenwood) located at 2300 West Main Street in Belleville, IL. Here's some important information and updates.
Transportation
We will provide transportation for parents and students who would like to ride the bus to/from this event. Please see the attached flyer for more event info. Families who would like to ride the bus, please complete the Google doc transportation form by 4/16/25. (see the link below)

Creative Art Contest
We certainly encourage all of our students to express themselves and tell us what "belonging" means to them. We want to create an environment for all of our students and their families. For the contest, students can create and submit a project in one of the following three categories: Visual (poster, collage, digital, etc.); Performance (song, rap, spoken word, etc.) and Written (essay, poem, etc.). Pre-K students can use the optional coloring page that was mentioned in the contest rules (see attached).
The official dates for the art contest are March 17 - April 4. (See attached). The creative art projects are due April 4, 2024. Principals and their admin teams are asked to judge the entries for their school and then send or deliver the winning projects - one from each category to me (Carla Harris Cole @ BB) by 4/9/25. Principals are asked to display the remaining art projects in their school. One winner in each category will be selected from the entries that the principals submit to the BB for district-level competition and judging. The overall district winners from each category will be notified by April 11th; they will be recognized at the Cities in Harmony event on Saturday, April 26th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and they will also receive a $25.00 gift card!
If you have any questions regarding Cities in Harmony, transportation and/or the creative art contest, please feel free to call and/or email me.
Thank you!
