Below are two PDF files concerning certificate/licensure renewal.  It is important that you review these two documents and input all CPDU/Professional Development hours you have accumulated so far in your 5 years certification/licensure process.

Under the new PERA law, the renewal process that we have been using is eliminated as of July 1, 2014 and the new licensure renewal system will start on that date.  I am also being told that if the CPDUs you have or will earn prior to June 30, 2014 for your current 5 year cycle are not recorded in ELIS by a specific date, those CPDUs will not be credited towards your renewal process.  There is some confusion about what that specific date will be.

As you will see in the documents, it is being recommended that “Credit for all professional development activities completed on or before June 30, 2014, must be entered into the Educator License Information System (ELIS)as soon as possible, but no later than December 31, 2014, if credit is to be counted.”  I have spoken with our ROE, and it is believed that the state will stick with the December 31, 2014 date, but the ROE also recommended submitting your info before July 1, 2014 “just to be safe.”  I can’t give a definitive answer about the final submittal date for current CPDU’s, however I would encourage everyone to enter your information ASAP.

This licensure information covers both teachers and administrators, so everyone needs to enter this information.  Please email me if you have any question harveyaw@cusd187.org
