Health Requirements

In grades sixth, seventh, and eighth, the district offers personal health, safety, and comprehensive sexual health education course. The course materials and instruction meet the requirements outlined in Public Act 102-0522, including but not limited to the following: 1. Aligned to the National Sex Education Standards and any additional standards adopted by ISBE. 2. Accessible to students with disabilities through any needed modifications. 3. Inclusive and sensitive to the needs of students based on their status as pregnant or parenting; living with STIs, including HIV; sexually active; asexual or intersex; a survivor of interpersonal violence and sexual violence; or based on their gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, sexual behavior, or disability. The school's PE teacher will notify parents/guardians when this course will be offered, and parents/guardians have the right to opt out of the course and not be penalized for not participating.
