My name is Kristi Schroeder and I am excited to be starting my 4th year as Principal of Maplewood School in Cahokia Illinois. This is my 15th year in education in the Cahokia School District and I still LOVE what I do! I have taught High School, was a department chair, and an assistant principal for 11 years at Cahokia High School before I began at Maplewood School. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from McKendree University in 2005. I then returned to McKendree University where I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2009.
My educational experiences have afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group ofpeople to mSchroedereet the common goal of increasing student achievement and student success. My educational philosophy is based on an uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family.
At Maplewood, our goal is to create active and engaging classroom environments where all students can succeed. We also encourage all staff to build strong relationships with their students because studies show that “learning performance may be deeply affected by the emotional environment in which learning takes place.” We at Maplewood treasure the relationships we can build with not only our students but also with parents and the community.
I am married to Andrew Schroeder, who is also an educator, and a mother to Jackson (age 13) and Ella (age 10). I enjoy St. Louis Cardinals Baseball as well as most other sports, traveling, camping, and other outdoor activities. I enjoy spending time with my family and our Therapy Dog Cocoa. I love being able to work with the amazing students of Cahokia School District and I hope to influence them in a positive way.
Please remember that the partnership between parents and school is very important to your child's education. Feel free to contact me anytime at schroederkl@cusd187.org
